BTA Students wear pink to spread Breast Cancer Awareness

BTA Students wear pink to spread Breast Cancer Awareness

Students at Benjamin Turner Academy flooded the halls with pink to celebrate the third day of Spirit Week and spread awareness for Breast Cancer on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Throughout October, teachers have been raising awareness in the classroom by wearing pink shirts and jeans on Wednesday and donating money to a District-wide fundraiser, but this week students got involved in all the fun and showed their support by wearing pink shirts.

“Today we decided to make wearing pink a school-wide initiative and invite all the students to wear pink to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness,” said BTA Principal Doris Dopaah. “It impacts them even at the youngest age. Everyone knows someone who has some form of cancer and they’re all knowledgeable; they know what it looks like when someone isn't feeling well.”
